De-sanding, De-oiling and De-scaling using Water and Oil-Based Gels

Gel pigs are a series of highly viscous gelled liquids developed for use in pipeline operations. GPPS specializes in Gel Technology application for using in pipeline operations especially for pipelines without pig traps or pipelines where the integrity of such pipelines cannot be ascertained.

In general Gel technology can be useful for general fluid separation in pipelines that were unsuitable for, or not equipped to handle mechanical pigs. The complex theologies of the Gels give them flow characteristics useful in pipeline servicing. These Gels are biodegradable with no adverse environmental impact.

As the Gel enters and moves down the pipeline, it forms an almost perfect fluid seal at the pipewall. This makes the Gel pig and excellent fluid separator, pushing out the line-fill liquid or gas as the Gel conforms to the exact pipeline dimensions. It also has the ability to pick up and transport loose debris as it moves along the pipeline.
